Kathe Kollwitz 'self portrait'
TASKS:
1. Make sure all work is posted on your website - labeled with explanations and WWW, EBI
2. Planning for your final portrait relief print - on black paper
3. Investigate Kathe Kollwitz - her relief prints. Explain how her work was related to the times and place she lived in. Comment on her technique - try and describe how she uses tone in her relief prints. You could even use drawing to help explain.

Summative Reflection
Once your print is finished you will write a summative reflection that should include:
- WWW and EBI about your final print
- How you think you have addressed this ATL? ( what did you intend to communicate to the audience? Have you succeeded? How well have you documented and shared each step of your process on your website?):
Communication
I. Communication skills
Exchanging thoughts, messages and information effectively through interaction
• Use a variety of media to communicate with a range of audiences
Reading, writing and using language to gather and communicate information
• Structure information in summaries, essays and reports - Make a comparison/contrast of your print and one of Kathe Kollwitz's prints - what is similar and what is different? You could have the images ( your print and one of hers) side by side and then compare and contrast them.
- Answer these question - how is it different for us to look at the Kollwitz prints now, than it would have been when they were first made? (you will need to find out a little about the CONTEXT she made her art in to answer this). Do you think art can still be relevant to our lives if it was made a long time ago? What things are happening now that are a bit like the context Kollwitz was working in? ( a time of conflict in the part of the world she was from). Do you think your print will be able to communicate your intended idea in 100 years time?
